FAQ & Links

What can I expect in the first session?

The initial appointment will include an assessment and discussion of your areas of concern. We will talk together to discuss your goals and your expectations from the counselling process. We will work together to work towards achieving these goals and review them as counselling progresses.

Do I need a referral?

Individuals do not need a referral to see a psychologist. Many private funds provide a rebate if you have extras cover. Please check with your insurer.
If you are referred by your GP through a mental health Plan (item 2710), you may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate of $84.80 per session for 10 sessions per year.

What about my privacy?

Any information that identifies you or that you give to our practice will be treated with utmost privacy and respect. Information about you is kept confidential and is only disclosed to other parties with your permission. The only time a psychologist is required to disclose information about you is if it is necessary by law such as when we believe you or someone else is at risk of being hurt.
